These photos are a little different from my normal city-background. I took them in Ohio while I was home for Thanksgiving! No matter where I am in the world, my neutral color scheme seems to follow. Black and white are great, so paired with these grey boots? It’s the perfect combination! Neutrals seem to come out way more in the fall and winter than in the summer, I seem to add more color in the warmer weather. Is anyone else like that? It probably doesn’t help that all sweaters everywhere seem to come in grey…
I’ve been talking about these earrings (c/o) a lot on Instagram. They are made by Cherryl at Ayla Jane Designs. I’m not usually one for large earrings, I tend to opt for studs, but these are actually leather, super light, and go with everything! I’ve loved leather jewelry ever since I found a necklace in London when I was studying abroad, and have been looking for something similar since. When Cherryl reached out to me, I was all too thrilled to show you all her amazing pieces! I truly love them and really recommend you grab them for Christmas gifts, because they are super affordable! I linked this top and a few other strappy tees that are super cute and on trend!
It’s finally feeling like winter, and now I’m cold all the time! The best way to stay warm when I’m out is a cozy long cardigan! It’s like wearing a blanket all day. I love it for a casual look or even paired with a dress for work! So, paired with my long cardigan, I have these perfect leather shoes!
I’m still in Ohio for the day, and I am missing my dogs so much! It’s so weird to be away from them for so long.
My plans when I get back to Dallas:
Play with my dogs.
Put on this long cardigan because I couldn’t fit it in my suitcase to Ohio.
Happy Black Friday, first if you plan on shopping today, check out my sales guide here! I am so happy to be back in Ohio with my family! It is much colder in Ohio than Dallas, so I packed tons of chunky sweaters and boots, I had to sit on my suitcase to get it to close! Let me tell you, packing to take photos is much harder than just packing to bring clothes. My sister volunteered to my my photographer for the week!
Let’s talk about sweaters. I’m a fan of all styles, but this pullover is so amazing! It’s a cozy, long, chunky, and the perfect color! I actually bought his BP sweater last year, but lucky for you, it’s back in stock and under $50! It comes in so many colors too! I have it styled here with a cool moto jacket and booties, but the length also makes it great for leggings and otk boots! Speaking of these booties, they are Paul Green, and are seriously the most comfortable pair of heels I have ever worn!
Remember when those little think V-neck sweaters were really popular? Well I’m glad that’s over, because I am always cold! Chunky sweaters are definitely the way to go, but also really hard to pack when traveling to colder climates! Last year I got a ton of my sweaters from loft, but this year I am loving these Express pieces (here, here, and here) and these Urban Outfitters sweaters (here and here).

Here are all of the best Cyber Week 2016 Sales that are currently happening:
It is the most wonderful time of the year! The weather is getting colder, so hot chocolates and peppermint mochas are my go-to drinks, and holiday parties are being planned! I like to stray from traditional red and green with my holiday party outfit, so this year I opted for this stunning gold sequined top courtesy of PB&J Boutique!
I love to mix textures, so I paired the sequined top with my leather skirt and patent leather heels for an edgy vibe. This is my favorite holiday party outfit this season because it’s versatile, and this top can be worn so many ways!
The holiday season is kind of weird as an adult. Dallas is a completely different climate than Ohio, so it doesn’t even feel like the right season until I go home to visit and the temperature drops 30 degrees or I see snow! I also really miss my parents’ annual Christmas Party! I loved planning my outfit for weeks, baking the cookies and candy bars, helping my mom pick out the food, and decorating the house! Finally, the night of the party we would get together with my friends the week after Thanksgiving to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. It was always the most fun night because of the good food and the best friends.
Now, I take part in my own little traditions. I put up a tree in my living room and have stockings for each of my dogs and myself. I can’t wait until I have a space to actually have my holiday party! For now, it’s me, the boyfriend, and the dogs, and believe me, that’s enough of a party. It will be Mia’s first Christmas with me, so fingers crossed she gets along with the tree, and doesn’t eat any more stockings… She got a hold of one in the Fall that was peeking out of a box under my bed.
If you’ve been following me for a while, here or on Instagram you’ll notice I smile in a lot of my photos. While looking put together and stylish comes with having a fashion and style blog, I really like to put my personality behind my posts and photos. It really wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t looking happy or I was trying some model-gaze out into the distance. (Believe me it does not turn out looking like a model!) No matter the post, event, occasion, or day of the week, I want my teeth looking as white as possible!
I’ve been wanting to whiten my teeth for a while. They were never bad, but I just felt like they could be better. So, when Smile Brilliant reached out to me, I was really excited to try out their product! It is super easy to use, because you don’t even have to leave your house! First Smile Brilliant mails out your kit, and then you create your molds using the base and catalyst putty. Then you send Smile Brilliant your molds and they create your trays. When they send them back you are ready to go! You use the Whitening Gel first, leaving it in for about 45mins-3hours, then you use the Desensitizing Gel which you leave in for 15-20mins. The hardest part about this process for me was finding the time to do it. I really like to snack or have a glass of wine after work, so it was a struggle to find a 2-4hour time span when I wasn’t going to want to eat or drink anything! Granted the results are totally worth the break, and even stopped me from drinking wine or more coffee which would stain my teeth more!
I love my new white smile, thanks to Smile Brilliant, because a white smile goes with every outfit! If you want to try out Smile Brilliant for yourself use code “runninginheels” for 5% off, also see these tips before purchasing. I’m also hosting a giveaway for your own kit (see below)!
Happy Tuesday! This time of year is really fun for me because I get to see my family, decorate, and shop! Cyber Week and holiday shopping are some of my favorite things! You have to throw a couple of things in for yourself, too, but in order to not feel guilty you don’t want to spend too much! This long-sleeved strappy top is not only perfect for the cooler weather we’ve been having, but it’s on sale and under $12!
I love the strappy top, bralette, dress, anything strappy look! I wish I could wear it all the time, because it adds a fun twist to any look! When I was designing in school I would always add extra straps and pieces of fabric, apparently I was just a couple of years too early to go mainstream!
I am so excited for the next few days/weeks/months! First I have a few really exciting things happening here on Running in Heels. I have a giveaway starting today (scroll to the bottom to enter), and another really exciting giveaway later this week, and then my Holiday Guide will be coming out! I have been working really hard on it so I can’t wait to share it with you! PLUS, next week is Thanksgiving (already?!) and I am so happy to get to see my family!
Traveling around the holidays is rough. I should know, last year I had three flights cancelled between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. Granted, the first problem was that I missed my original flight home and the return was cancelled, but the other two were weather issues. Living half-way across the country from my family and child-hood friends means lots of trips, especially around this time of year. So, I’ve put together the perfect travel outfit to keep you looking cute and comfortable!
Travel Outfit Recipe
A comfy top. This Mint Julep tunic (c/o) is absolutely perfect for a plane. We all want to look like Victoria Beckham when we step off a plane, but in reality, I don’t have a privet jet and limited rom in my one carry on for extra outfits to change into. I need to be comfortable and warm, especially in case of a delay!
No-wrinkle pants. I like to wear jeans on the plane, I just like the idea that I don’t look like i rolled out of bed incase I meet someone interesting. You never know who you’ll see at the airport! Plus people used to dress up to get on planes, the least we can do is brush our hair and not wear pajamas. DL1961 Emma Power Legging Jeans are my absolute favorite. They dont wrinkle, they are stretchy, but not knit, and don’t wrinkle. Basically the best pants for travel.
Comfortable shoes. OK these Over the Knee Boots are not exactly TSA friendly, but if you Pre-check you’re set, otherwise, wear something you can easily slip on and off!
A hat. After sitting on an airplane for hours you’ll find that your hair is no longer full of volume and lacking in shine, that’s when I turn to a cute floppy hat!
A sturdy bag. I actually prefer to not check bags, so I need a solid duffel bag that I can fit all of my things in for my trip. I also prefer it be cute, like this quilted duffel!
On the weekends, I try to relax a bit. I watch television, drink lots of coffee, and play with my pups! I also like to take the time to pamper myself a bit. During the week, I don’t have a ton of time for face masks, hair masks, painting my nails, so when I get a minute to myself on the weekend, I try to do it all!
We all need to pamper ourselves every once in a while, and we all have our different preferences. I recently got into using different kinds of masks. I realized that I had been using the same facial cleansing and treatments since high school, and never really upgraded. My skin has obviously changed in the last few years, so I have been desperately looking for an improved routine. So far, I’m liking my new process, and wanted to share it with you! Disclaimer, some of the products mentioned below have been graciously provided to me, but all opinions are my own.
My Pamper Routine
First, I take off my make up with Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover. I am not the best at remembering to use this if it is before bed, because I’ll wash my face and leave my make-up on the towel… sorry mom! However, if it is a weekend I try my best to remember to take my make-up off with this!
Next, I’ll rinse my face with water then cleanse with Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme (c/o). It exfoliates, cleanses, removes dead cells, and hydrates skins all while feeling smooth and cool.
As I wait for the mask to set in, I pop in my Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening trays (post to come!). While I wait for everything to set, I paint my nails with my favorite Essie polish of the moment (Currently, Smokin’ Hot last seen here).
Finally, I set all of the hydration in with evian® Facial Spray (c/o). It’s cool and hydrating, and is the perfect touch to my mini spa session at home!
I even take my evian® Facial Spray on the go with me to spray when I need another pick-me up! It’s great because it doesn’t mess up my make-up when I spray it on! Try it out for yourself and enter to win your own 10 oz and 5 oz bottles of evian® Facial Spray and pamper yourself like I do! Click here to enter!
When I started Running in Heels I wanted to inspire women on the go. Women like me who are constantly running around, but want to look good while bouncing from place to place. Anything reversible makes things like changing up your look so simple! I love being able to transform my outfit with an easy maneuver, but without having to make a stop to change at home. When I first picked up this top in the store, I didn’t even realize it was reversible, that’s when you know you’ve got a good one! You don’t want it to look weird or like it’s supposed to be something it isn’t. Thos top is an easy blouse with two layers with a cute pop of color on the straps!
We already know I love a good black and white look, but what about the velvet trend? I’m loving it! I started with a fun crop top, and then found these shoes at Target for under $30! (Go up a half-size.) Block heels are so great to wear while running around. I think they make you look fabulous, and still put together, while being comfortable while on the run! Trust me, sometimes I wear them for 12 hours a day! While not recommended, sometimes it is unavoidable!
I’m trying to plan ahead this week for the holidays, get everything organized for the blog, and travel plans home to Ohio. I’m usually organized, it’s just more of a last-minute, organized chaos type of deal. That’s why, anything to make my life easier is exactly what I need! I have a few collaborations and projects coming up on Running in Heels that I’ve been working on, and I am so excited to show them to you! So, stop back for updates and follow me on Instagram for daily inspiration!
