  • Wood Watch for Fall with JORD

It’s almost Fall! Ok, it doesn’t actually feel like Fall in Texas. It is really still in the high 90s and got over 100 degrees the day Nataly and I were taking these photos! Despite the weather outside, there are a few things that make me feel like it’s finally becoming Fall. To name a few, jeans, leather jackets, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and something I would not have thought of previously, but this JORD Wood Watch. I received it a couple of weeks ago, and I absolutely love it! I have been wearing it a ton and this wood watch has found its way into my regular watch rotation. This JORD Wood Watch has given me the biggest feeling of Fall! It is definitely the wood. I chose the lightest color, thinking it would be great for summer, which it has been great, but there is something perfect about pairing it with booties and a jacket that gives me that Fall feeling! Because this watch was the lightest color, it’s also the most casual one. Plain, simple, and exactly my style. I’ve said many times that I don’t dress up for work often, so a simple and casual wood watch that I can wear daily, is the perfect accessory! JORD is a unique watch brand. It is so different from anything in my collection already, because of the wood. I think it is a really great size, because I tend to like larger watches. Surprisingly it is really light, soft, and really comfortable. They even size them for you! Even with my decent-sized watch collection, for some reason, I’m always running late! I do know how to read it, I swear. I guess it doesn’t matter how cute the watch is, I’ll probably be late, but at least I’ll look good, right? I’m working on it, really.

  • Fashion X Dallas Night 3 Presented by Cadillac

I had an amazing time the first two nights of Fashion X Dallas presented by Cadillac, but night 3 had to have been my favorite (read about night 1 and 2 here). Nataly and I were invited to the Cadillac after party which in an ironic twist actually started before the Fashion Show, so I got to drive a brand new Cadillac XT5 to the FIG. We were given VIP access and seating again, as well as a ride back in another brand new Cadillac to the after party. I absolutely loved that XT5, because it was so smooth and quiet, unlike mine which sounds like an airplane. It even had massage seats! Yes, you read that correctly, the car had massage seats, the upgraded version even had them in the back. Although I may need autopilot when using that feature!

  • Fashion X Dallas Night 2 with CND Vinylux

If possible, Fashion X Dallas night 2 was even better than night 1! CND Vinylux invited Nataly and I to get manicures before the show, and treated us to a true VIP experience, complete with front row seats! I’ve had my manicure for four days now, and it is still going strong. I’m really hard on my nails, so anything from washing my hair or scratching mosquito bites might chip my nails. However, my CND Vinylux 7-day wear is still on and looks great! Honestly, I haven’t had a regular nail polish perform this well, unless I got them done at the salon, and even then CND Vinylux stands up really well. The trick is in putting the CND Vinylux on a raw nail that is dry so the polish sticks, and then finishing with the top coat. This is what seals the color in, dries fast (only 8 minutes!), plus it get stronger as it is exposed to natural light. I’m wearing the color Romantique, and will be testing some others in the coming weeks!

  • Fashion X Dallas Night 1

It has been an absolutely insane weekend, in the best way possible. Nataly and I were so happy to attend all three nights of Fashion X Dallas. We had an amazing time! While it’s not New York Fashion Week, it was my first experience attending a Fashion Show that I didn’t have to work at! I’ve produced shows, modeled in them, volunteered backstage, but never just attended. While technically I was still working, I had so much fun! Fashion X Dallas night 1 was full of some of my favorite pieces and collections. There were 9 shows made up of Project Runway winners and All Stars, several mini capsule collections of brand new designers, a collection of styled looks from local Style Setters’ closets, and even more local designers. Some of my favorite collections were Michelle Lesniak, Chloe Dao, Daniel Esquivel, and Abi Ferrin, see my photos below. Before the shows started there were showrooms full of local jewelry, accessories, and clothing from local artists and designers. Cadillac, the largest sponsor was all over, with their newest models out front, Chloe wine was keeping everyone well boozed by handing out glasses of wine, Luna bars were there handing out the inly food in the building, and CND was doing manicures with Vinylux. We arrived early to see what was going on before the show started, it was really great to walk around and get to know more local designers!

  • Transitions: Summer Dresses in Fall

More transition talk? Yes, because guys, I am struggling! It feels like summer, but everything is telling me it’s Fall! Dallas weather really trips me up this time of year. I’m used to changing leaves, sweaters, booties, and definitely not shorts. I know, I know, I’ll get used to it, but two years in, I’m struggling to handle the lack of seasons. But, for those of you still lucky enough to enjoy 4 full seasons in the year, here is a great look to transition your summer dresses in Fall!

  • Transitions: Shorts for Fall

I hope you had a great long weekend! Labor Day usually marks the end of Summer, and I am so ready for Fall, but sometimes the Dallas heat doesn’t allow me to dress the way I would have in Ohio. I mean, I would melt in a sweater and jeans today. So I’ve learned to adapt to the heat and find new ways to wear my favorite pieces! I love a good causal weekend look, so this one with my boots and shorts for Fall worked out perfectly! These moto boots are ones I coveted for an entire season a couple of years ago, until my mom surprised me with them on Christmas morning. I absolutely love them and got a ton of use out of them in Ohio, but now that I’m working and usually dressing up a bit more, I have to find more creative ways to wear them. This is a great weekend look and the perfect way to wear shorts for Fall.

  • Bootie Season

I am so excited for bootie season (otherwise known as fall)! I always think of Labor Day as the official start of Fall, so here we are at the long weekend and I am so ready! Booties, sweaters, changing leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, new planners, I’m a nerd and I love fall, and I am so excited!

  • MoveInMiami: Back to School Checklist

I couldn’t imagine a better college experience than I had at Miami University. While in school, I accomplished everything I set out to do and more than I could have ever imagined. Even a couple of years later I am amazed every day with how much my time at the University affected me. The tools and knowledge I use on a daily basis in my job and with my blog are things that I learned at Miami University. That is why I am so happy to celebrate another year of MoveInMiami with Miami University Libraries!

  • Styling Black and White

As all of the Fall clothes come out, my style gets less and less colorful. My usual go-tos are gray, black and white, and even though it’s not Fall yet, seeing those clothes and colors on the racks at the stores makes me so ready for it! So, I start putting outfits together with less and less color and fall back into a more neutral colored wardrobe.

  • NSale Fall Trends

Are you tired of hearing about the NSale yet? Well, I’m always up for a good deal, and a good deal on good clothes like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I just can’t resist! I love that they do this sale backwards, everything goes on sale first and then the price goes up later. (If you haven’t shopped yet, read my NSale Survival Guide for the best way to do it!) Speaking of, we’ve only got 3 more days left to shop before that happens! So many of the pieces I picked out (like this top) sold out before the public access even began, but I’m still really excited about it and wanted to post this because I can wear it now! It’s a great transitional piece, and I loved it so much I got it in two colors!
