Top 7 Best Longline Sports Bras for Women

hot yoga outfit featured by top Dallas fashion blogger, Running in Heels.

Longline sports bras and crops have been my go-to lately for the yoga studio! I’ve been collecting them for several years, but they have really seemed to pop up in trends recently.

I have purchased several new longline sports bras recently, so I wanted to go through them and share my honest reviews. I am scoring each style on a 1-5 scale, 1 being disliked to 5 meaning loved, on three categories: comfort, which is self-explanatory, workout which means how well it scores in different workouts, and style which includes coverage overall look.

I have tested each of these longline sports bras in the hot yoga studio, and some running, so I will note what types of activities they are good for. I should note that I am a 30C/32B, so I don’t need tons of support in my sports bras, but I prefer more for my comfort level.

In addition to just sports bras, you can always opt for a matching set. I love the cohesive look and it ensures that both pieces in the set perform similarly. There are a ton of awesome brands that sell great activewear brands, I love shopping retailers that carry multiple brands of activewear so I can test out different brands and styles.

Best Longline Sports Bras for Women

Alo Alosoft Lavish Bra

Comfort: 5
Workout: 5
Style: 5

This is my newest acquisition to my collection and it is absolutely my favorite piece! I love the cute styled back, and the longline style is perfect for so many activities. It has passed my hot yoga and active walking tests. It is super soft, but still sweat-wicking. It is really my go-to bra for class these days! Alo Yoga is quickly becoming one of my go-to yoga brands for style, comfort, and quality! One note is that the straps are not adjustable so it sits lower in front so there is more cleavage showing for more of an open chest.

Zella Longline Sports Bra

Comfort: 5
Workout: 5
Style: 5

This sports bra was top-scoring on everything for me. I loved it in yoga and feel very comfortable running in it as well. The top does not have a separate shelf bra, but overall fits well and supports. I love the neckline and racerback because it’s a simple style but still allows me to feel a little bit sexy even when I’m sweaty, which I think is great workout motivation when you already feel great! My exact top is no longer available but the two linked below are very similar in fit and style.

Size: XS
Price: $49-59

Amazon Lemedy Women’s Sports Bra

Comfort: 5
Workout: 3
Style: 4

I ordered this top specifically for this post. I have seen so many bloggers raving about it, I had to put it to the test! Upon first try-on, it’s super comfortable and fits really well. It has a shelf bra which usually isn’t my favorite, but this one is still comfortable. It scored top marks for comfort. The style got a 4 because it comes in tons of colors. I love the length, but it’s pretty basic, and not terribly interesting.
Finally, for the workout category, it got a 3. The top is comfortable enough, but it is actually not very sweat-wicking which makes it not great for hot yoga or extreme sweat. I left my yoga class feeling gross and the top was soaked through. On the other hand, it’s great to wear and hang out in or for active walks on the trail. I’ve also bought other colors and worn it to outdoor events and even Disney World!

I typically wear a size XS, but this top only came in S-XXL, so I chose S. It fits well, is not too tight, and has a ton of stretch.

Outdoor Voices Athena Crop

Comfort: 5
Workout: 4
Style: 5

This was one of the first crops that I got years ago. I loved this Outdoor Voices set and everything the brand stood for. They are still a great brand, and as a marketer, I still love them, but this material is no longer my top choice due to my change in workout styles. When I wore this outfit most often I was doing more high-intensity workouts like the Sweat app’s BBG program and running more often. Now you are much more likely to find me in the yoga studio, and I prefer a softer material, however, I still love this top to run in!

Price: $48

Free People FP Movement Happiness Runs Crop Top

Comfort: 5
Workout: 5
Style: 5

This is actually one of my favorite tops to work out in and wear generally. It is so comfortable and looks so good in so many situations. I absolutely love the length and support. The FP Movement by Free People is such a great brand with really soft, moveable, and affordable pieces. This top is one of my favorites I’d take it in every color!

As far as activity goes, this top is good for low-intensity workouts like yoga or hiking. I would likely add another layer for running or HIIT. The first few times I wore it, I actually wore a sports bra underneath, but I don’t think that it is necessary for low-intensity!

Price: $30

Zella Body Rhythm Sports Bra

Comfort: 4
Workout: 5
Style: 4

This is the most supportive sports bra in the set here. It is highly compressive, thicker material, and has quite thick padding for a sports bra. I would run in this and feel very comfortable. I gave it a 4 because it is a lot thicker than some other styles.

In terms of style, it comes in four additional colors, so there is awesome variety, and it has a cute sweetheart neckline, keyhole, and double strap detail. The only point off was because I love a detailed back, so just my personal preference.

Price: $25

Beyond Yoga Focus Cropped Tank

Comfort: 5
Workout: 5
Style: 4

While this one is called a cropped tank rather than a sports bra, I am adding it to this post because I wear it in the same instances as a long-line sports bra. It does have a bit more coverage than the other options though.

I have an unending love for Beyond Yoga’s spacedye fabric. It is so soft and comfortable, and I can’t get enough! On top of being great for lounging and super comfy, it is still performance fabric so it’s made to be worn for hot yoga and other exercises. This tank does have a shelf bra inside and is super flattering with the racerback. It also comes in so many fun colors and prints, but its so basic I gave it a 4 for style! I wore a blue one on our hike to see the Petroglyphs in St. John.

Size: XS
Price: $70

Beyond Yoga Spacedye Racerback Cropped Tank

Comfort: 5
Workout: 5
Style: 5

Since this is the same fabric as the Focus Cropped Tank above I’ll save you my raving for the brand again, but just know I am obsessed. I like this style for workouts and active walking, but. I haven’t tested runs in it yet. I love all of the colors and options, but for this one similar to the Alo Lavish Bra, this crop does not have adjustable straps so sits lower in front. You can see my sister wearing it on our hike in St. John while I’m wearing the Focus Cropped Tank.

Price: $68

Alo Slit Bra

Comfort: 5
Workout: 5
Style: 5

Perhaps my most trendy of longline sports bras, this Alo Slit Bra is so cool looking with thick straps and a slit across the front and the back. The ribbed material is super stretchy and comfortable. I have. a great range of motion for yoga class and would even feel supported and comfortable going for a run in this. Top scores for this bra from me!

Size: XS
Price: $64

Alo Slit Bra

Free People FP Movement Ecology Bra (No Longer Available)

Comfort: 5
Workout: 3
Style: 2

This top is super soft, so it earned top points in the comfort category, however, it is not my favorite style out of the group. The workout and style categories go hand in hand in this case. For both categories, you need another sports bra under this top. It has low support and might be ok for a slow flow or yin yoga class, but anything else won’t work. The perforation in the top is super cute, but combined with the lack of support, it doesn’t work out well. Lastly, the color of this top makes it a bit see-through, and since it has no padding, you’ll need another layer.
