    Living The Kalon Life

I always judge a workout by how sore I am the next day. With Kami, from The Kalon Life, I felt it that night! We met at the Katy Trail for an outdoor workout in the beautiful Dallas spring weather. (It was actually a little hot since it his mid 80s that day!) I’m not much of a gym person, so she said we could meet wherever I felt most comfortable! She kicked my butt a little, but that’s exactly what I want in a trainer. Nothing we did was groundbreaking, it just takes someone to spell it out for you sometimes!

Getting Bikini Ready with Macy’s Backstage

This weekend was an absolute blast, I had the best time celebrating my birthday! Now that it’s over I have something else to look forward to: vacation! Recently, Kale and I booked a trip to Riviera Maya so we couldn’t be more excited! We are literally counting down the days! But, vacation means bikinis, while bikinis mean bikini body, which I so do not have now! I really need to get back in shape, so thank you to Macy’s Backstage for helping to inspire me with these super cute workout clothes!

  • Running: Workout Wednesday

Do you ever just get the urge to go on a long run? Ever since the marathon I have been expanding my horizons and adding new workouts to my repertoire. However, in my break from running, I found that I missed it. I enjoy the journey and the time to think, away from my computer and text messages. Everything is on pause while I am running and I can reset my self. Don’t get me wrong, there is something amazing about a 20 minute circuit that leaves you sore for the next few days, but running is good for my mind, body, and soul. I know its cheesy, but it’s a huge stress reliever for me, and even when I think I don’t have time, or it’s too hot, I ALWAYS feel better afterwards. So, in my efforts to be fit, and keep control in my crazy life, I am working running back into my weekly schedule.

  • Pure Barre: Monday Motivation

Happy Monday! Last week I told you about a great event I was invited to with Bailey’s and Pure Barre. I have never taken a Pure Barre class before, but being a former ballerina, I was really curious about it. I was told it’s a mix of Pilates and other exercises using ballet principles… Well, I’m still not sure what it was, but it was a really great workout. We were moving the entire 50 minute class and working what felt like all of my muscles in my legs, arms and core. We started on the floor with abs, then stretched them out, then moved onto arms (with or without) weights. Then went to the bar where we worked on glutes and legs. I excelled more at the bar because my legs are way stronger than the rest of my body. However, it was a true full-body workout and at times I wasn’t completely sure that I was going to make it! Luckily I did, and hopefully managed to strengthen some muscles while I was there. It certainly felt like I did! I highly recommend trying Pure Barre for a great class and full body workout!

Bailey’s Almande: From the Barre to the Bar

    Bailey’s Almande & Pure Barre

Last week I was invited to an event called from the Barre to the Bar, sponsored by Pure Barre and Bailey’s to promote their new product, Bailey’s Almande. After an intense Pure Barre class (more to come on that next week), we tried a few drinks with Bailey’s Almande. It is a gluten and dairy free spirit that tastes light and creamy. Because it is gluten and dairy free that means it’s basically healthy so you can have it after all of your workouts… right? Ok probably not, but this was a great event and a fun excuse to sip on drinks and mingle post-workout!

  • Monday Motivation: Push Yourself

    push yourself

    Push Yourself

Here’s the thing: no one is going to do your work for you. If you have a dream, a goal, a want, a desire, you have to push yourself until you get there and then keep going. No one is going to check up on you wondering if you did those extra sit ups, or wrote your blog post. Being an adult is hard, but the good and the bad is that you have complete control over your life and where you go. This isn’t about your regular adult tasks like going to work or paying your bills, though. This is about your personal goals, your fitness plan, your side hustle, or anything that makes you happy. I have faith in you to get there, so make a plan and jump in. Stop waiting for a sign because this is it. But once you start, push yourself, because no one is going to do it for you.

  • Motivation Monday: Seasonal Workouts

Hi friends, today I’m talking about seasonal workouts. Starting my Bikini Body Workout Plan and hearing everyone talking about getting bikini ready got me thinking about something: Why does everyone want to drastically change their bodies this time of year? Why weren’t we doing something about it before? I know the feeling of getting bikini body ready all too well.

  • Getting that Bikini Body

Hi Friends! My apologies for being a day late on my Motivation Monday post (apparently my Monday was lacking in motivation). However, I promised to let you know what workout I chose, and so here it is: I chose the POPSUGAR Bikini Body Workout Plan! There is a good balance of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), running, yoga, and other activities to keep it interesting. I love the HIIT workouts because they are only 20-30 minutes long. These particular HIIT workouts make sure you use a lot of muscles all over your body, which is completely necessary for getting in bikini body shape! I can do them from home and don’t have to go to a gym, ao far they have only required that I not annoy my downstairs neighbor by jumping too much. They require little equipment and I can do them anywhere. I’m not sure why, but I have never been a gym person. I prefer to use my body weight for strengthening or run outside. My biggest issue with this is my dogs trying to join in!
