Do Influencers Actually Use the Products They Promote? | What’s in My Shower?

The most asked question regarding my blog isn’t about growing a following, it’s not about how to get brand partnerships, and it’s not about what I’m wearing. The most asked question I get is “Do you actually use/wear/own that insert item from sponsored post. I hate that people even have to ask the question, but I understand where the curiosity comes from. Audiences have to trust in order to be influenced, so it’s natural to wonder if influencers actually use the products they promote.

So, Do Influencers Actually Use the Products They Promote?

The answer is always “YES!” and I’ve been thinking about how I can show you more into a live view of what I actually use, wear and own, whether I was paid to promote it or not. So, first, I challenge you to send me emails or messages asking me to go live or story on Instagram “What’s in my…” whatever you want to know about! I’ll show you how I incorporate them into my daily life! I’m also dedicating this series “What’s in my…?” to show you how I incorporate the products that I promote in my everyday life.

What’s in my shower?

Getting to today’s topic: What’s in my Shower? No doubt the product I get asked about the most is Pantene shampoo and conditioner, so I thought I’d show you exactly what is in my shower and how I use it!

Shampoo and Conditioner

Pantene: Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo and Conditioner + Rescue Shots

I wrote about how I get volume in my hair using Pantene shampoo and conditioner, and so many people wonder if I actually use it. I definitely do! I use this shampoo and conditioner most often. If I wash my hair three times a week, I use it two out of the three times. I’m almost out of my rescue shots, so I’m using them every other week. I love the volume it gives, and it’s super light so it doesn’t weigh down my hair.

Moroccan Oil: Shampoo and Conditioner

The third time I wash my hair each week I’ll use Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner. My favorite part about, besides how it makes my hair feel, it is how it smells! I smell it all day long after I use it! My favorite part about, besides how it makes my hair feel, it is how it smells! I smell it all day long after I use it! I love this product, but I think it’s too rich to use it every time I wash. It gets a little heavy if I use it more often. However, I use the oil every time after I wash to help restore and detangle my locks.

Kerastase: Treatment Mask

I keep a hair mask in my shower, but honestly, I haven’t used it in a while. I don’t have time for that in my showers, and who wants to stand for 5 minutes out of the water? I really need to, though. The last time I got my hair colored at the salon I went lighter than usual, so it needs some love and extra moisture.

Kerastase recently sent me their new purple shampoo, and I cannot wait to try it! I prefer to finish things before trying new ones, so once I finish my Moroccan Oil set I’ll swap that out for my new Kerastase set!

Body Wash

Soap & Glory: The Rightous Butter

Ok, I’ve never tried anything like this body wash. It’s so moisturizing! I love using it when I have a spray tan because it’s not as harsh as other soaps I’ve used. I feel like I’ve actually helped my skin get the moisture it needs after using this product.

Bath & Body Works: Aromatherapy Bath and Shower Gel

Honestly, I just love the Aromatherapy collection and the scents. It’s a good basic body wash and a reliable brand that I’ve been using since I was a kid!

Palm Beach Tan: Sunless Exfoliator

I also keep a good body polish or exfoliator in my shower for when I need a good scrub typically before my spray tans each week. Exfoliating is an essential part of your pre-tan routine! I love the sunless collection because it’s made specifically for the needs of your pre-tan regime. Note: You can only purchase this product in Palm Beach Tan stores.

Accessories

Razors

Yes, I have two razors in my shower. Obviously, I use one for my right leg and the other for my left. KIDDING. I typically just grab the one that’s closer. I will use the Venus razor more often when I have a spray tan since it’s a little more gentle and has the extra padding/gel around it. However, the other Gillette razor gets a closer shave when the blade is sharp and new.

Final Thoughts on Influencers Using Sponsored Products

So, you can see, I do “actually use” the products that I promote on my blog and Instagram in daily life! I always used to say I wouldn’t promote an item that I didn’t know and love, but that’s less true now. It’s unrealistic to have all of your favorite brands also want to work with you. It’s happened to work out for me in a few instances, such is the case with Pantene. However, I’ve also had the opportunity to discover a lot of other great brands that I may not have known about otherwise through sponsored opportunities. I do believe in and stand behind each product I promote. If it is something new to me, I do a lot of research on the brand before to make sure their values align with my own brands’.

With these posts, I’m hoping to remove the stigma associated with sponsored posts, and show that just because a blogger or influencer accepts money for a promotion, doesn’t mean it’s not genuine.

  1. This was such a great post. I’ve sometimes wondered if influencers, especially wealthy ones, actually use the drugstore products they promote:)
