I have a love/hate relationship with short weeks. The amount of work you have to do is the same, but you have less time to do it. On the other hand, they help make the case for increased productivity and having 4 day weeks in the workplace overall.
Not that it matters for me because I work from home and have clients that need me at all times. I do try to have at least one day a week where I don’t check emails, edit photos, write posts, where I just step away, but social media is a tough industry where it’s literally on and with you constantly.
I learned recently how important it is to set boundaries when working with my social media clients. It’s tough because just like my blog is to me, their business means everything to them and they expect their employees and those contracted to them to be all in 100%. Which I am, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have boundaries and a weekend. I’m actually blessed with amazing clients who know I get my job done and will absolutely be there in the event something needs correcting on my day off, but I haven’t always been this lucky! I guess that’s the benefit of working for yourself and choosing your own clients.
This week I’ve got a few favorites that are already some of my summer go-to’s. Read on to see what I’m loving this week!
Friday Favorites: 5.31.19
Aloe Vera
Good old Aloe Vera for sunburn is by far the best product you can use. It’s cooling and healing and has been used for thousands of years for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Of course, the best option is to not get burnt at all and trust me, I do my best, but sometimes it’s unavoidable even with sunscreen.
So, when it happens, turn to Aloe Vera to soothe your pain. I actually toured an aloe plan in Aruba, Aruba Aloe which is one of the oldest aloe companies in the world and was the first to manufacture for cosmetic use.
Soap & Glory Coco Cream
I used this cream (think thick and heavy) on top of my sunburn after the aloe dried and sunk in. It was so moisturizing, I never peeled and it reduced itching as well! I don’t suggest using this on peeling skin because it might be too thick and rough on that skin. Use this before that happens to hopefully prevent it! It also smells amazing. I’ve got the lotion and body wash as well and I can’t wait to use those too!
Dolce Vita Sandals Under $50
I grabbed these sandals months ago and just now pulled them out to wear for the summer. I love the snakeskin and metallic combo because they’re still very neutral, they come in other colors, too! I feel like I’ll be wearing them all summer because they are super comfy and have a solid bottom. Sandals that actually have some support? A true miracle. Scoop them up before they’re gone. Plus right now with your purchase of sandals, you’ll receive a $20 bonus card towards a future shopping trip. *See them styled in the main photo on this post.
Pixi by Petra Glycolic Mask
After a day at the pool, my skin was in desperate need of hydration. I used the Glycolic mask in my bath and it helped restore life in my skin! I’m really terrible about doing masks and baths but I am getting better at this self-care thing. It definitely helps when the products work and I see results!
La La Land – Kind Cafe
I stopped by this new Dallas coffee shop off of Greenville yesterday to get some work done and it was the cutest spot! I loved how open and bright it was. They have a decent amount of tables, but I did see some people struggling to find a spot for their larger group having a meeting.
The whole cafe looks like an adorable house with a great porch outside to sip your latte and enjoy the sun. You can even bring your pups. They have a little dog run where you can drop them off before you go in to order your coffee. La La Land has great branding, adorable coffee sleeves with sayings and paper straws (gotta love a place trying to save the sea turtles, right?).
I ordered an iced lavendar latte which was as expensive as you think it would be at a cute coffee shop, but it tastes better than starbucks and it’s a much better atmosphere. Don’t expect to grab lunch at this coffee shop, but they do have a few snacks. I had their avocado toast for breakfast, but they’re really known for their insane chocolate chip cookies. Don’t worry, I’ll be back for one.
