Shirt dresses are such a great universal piece of clothing. They can be worn in so many different situations, from running errands to dinner, or to work, for those of you back in the office. I have owned many chambray dresses in my lifetime, and wear them many different ways. When thinking of how I wanted to present this one, I couldn’t choose just one way to style it, so I ended up with two looks. One casual, one dressed up, keep scrolling to see them both!
The biggest difference between the looks is the styling and accessories. The dress itself, being chambray is already pretty casual, but you can do this with any shirtdress style. The chambray dress pictured is no longer available, but what I love about chambray is the super comfortable fabric! They are perfect for warm spring and summer days and easy to style in different ways. Velvet has some beautiful chambray pieces to try!
A shirtdress is such a classic style, it’s a great piece for a capsule wardrobe, as well! I love that it can be worn super casually or elevated and styled with heels. While both outfits are casual, they have different attitudes and can be worn in different scenarios.

Casual Chambray Shirt Dress Look
For the first style, to wear this shirtdress casually, I threw my hair up into a ponytail, grabbed my Yankees hat (which I got in NYC at the Yankees game) and paired it with my white converse.
The best part of this look in my opinion though is the whimsical taco purse, and gummy bear earrings by Baublebar!
You could easily wear this as a daily look to run errands, run around a city being a tourist, or even to a baseball game! The hat makes it a little inappropriate for most dinner settings, and if you’re like me, once I put on a hat, it doesn’t come off until I can wash my hair!

Dressed-Up Chambray Shirt Dress Look
This style is also a casual look, but slightly more elevated than the “casual” version. For this look, I chose to wear my hair down but tied my vintage Oscar de la Renta scarf around it like a headband. (See more hair scarf styles here.) I grabbed my favorite pink Alexander Wang Baby Rockie bag, flower earrings, and my favorite mules with the bows.
This outfit is perfect for brunch, a shopping day, or even date night.
I love that just a simple swap in accessories can change an entire outfit!
