We all have that LBD (little black dress) that we love. (I have a few actually.) It’s the perfect go to for almost any occasion. I think my favorite part about them is that you can accessorize and you have so many options. Colors, prints, jackets, sweaters, hats, heels, flats, the list is endless. Of course I stuck with my usual color palette and kept it neutral, but this zip up sweatshirt is a really cool texture and print. It’s a unique piece that I can’t wear with much, so I love that it goes so well with my LBD!
If you’re in the market for a new LBD here’s my checklist when shopping for one:
- It must be comfortable. This is a staple, so you’ll be wearing it a ton. It’s your go-to piece, so it’s important that the dress is comfortable. Choose a quality piece made with soft material that you’ll love to grab when you need an amazing outfit. This is a piece to splurge on a bit, it’s worth it, after all, it never goes out of style.
- You must feel amazing in it. It doesn’t matter how great the quality of the dress is, how expensive, or what designer if you don’t feel comfortable in it. Personally, I don’t generally wear super tight dresses, it’s not my style and I don’t feel like myself in them, so I gravitate towards sheath dresses for more formal or swing styles if I want something more flirty!
- It’s timeless. The little black dress has been around since the twenties, made famous by Coco Chanel. (Read more about the history here!) So, it would stand to reason that you should choose a style that you won’t have to update every season. Personally, I think it defeats the purpose! Although, most of my dresses happen to be little and black, so maybe I’m being a little hypocritical… but you can’t have too may LBDs!
