When you read that title I bet you thought this was going to be about how weird I am, or how I don’t fit into the crowd. Not that either of those are false, today I’m talking about the Misfit Ray, my fitness and sleep monitor.
The Misfit looks like a bracelet, tracks like a Fitbit, and nags like your mother. I’ve been wearing it for a couple of weeks now, and honestly haven’t taken full advantage of its capabilities. I was wearing it to note my sleep and activity, but there is so much more to it. The Misfit can track your daily activities through movement in steps, distance, sleep, and measure the specific type of activity you’re doing. While it does track automatically, I also have mine set to start tracking when I give it the signal that I’m starting a run.
Now about the nagging, I have my Misfit set to send a vibration alert every hour that I sit still and don’t move. Working at a desk all day, you really don’t even notice how little you move until you look at your steps and realize you’re under 1000. And that’s with taking the dogs out in the morning up and down 3 flights of stairs… Another cool setting I have on is the alerts for calls and texts. My Misfit will vibrate when I have an incoming call or text message.
I was recently having a conversation about fitness trackers with someone at an event, and she was saying how they don’t actually do anything to help you, really they just make you feel bad about yourself for never hitting your goal. I have read articles on how fitness trackers don’t actually improve your fitness, but that’s not why I wear mine. I really like tracking my sleep since I stay up all hours of the night blogging, and I think it’s worth knowing how much activity or how many steps I’ve done that day. Its something to improve upon for the next day, and ultimately with this tracker, I like the other features that come with it. It’s not that it’s going to motivate me to work out more often (I have an upcoming vacation for that), it’s that I like knowing how far I’ve come and where I need to go. Also, its cute.
OK that was a lot about this tracker, I feel like I got really technical with it, but I have to mention one more thing: How cute is this backpack? I received it c/o Jill-E and have used it everyday since! Not only is it cute and sporty looking, but it’s actually a laptop case. The entire inside is padded and holds a 13in laptop perfectly!

Love how delicate and classic it is! It isn’t too bulky, and doesn’t take away from your outfit!
So cute! It sounds great.

I really like the idea of tracking your sleep! And I actually kind of like tracking my fitness, just because it’s a good reminder to move, ha.
