I can’t believe it, but the first sign of Fall is here! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has long been the first note of Fall in the heat waves that are rolling outside the air-conditioned aisles of the hallowed halls of the department store. If you need a refresher on all things Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, click here!
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is when I get my first look at the top trends for Fall. We get to see what people gravitate towards, and what the go-to trends are going to be. I use this sale as a jumping off point for trends, but I actually end up purchasing a lot of basics.
I always recommend shopping online. That’s where you’ll see the most options in overall clothing, colors, and sizes. I always end up missing things in store and it’s harder to keep track of my budget. Plus, it’s super easy to return later if you don’t love it!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Trend Report
Earthy Tones
When I walked into the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Area, I was overwhelmed with all of the browns, tans, and earth tones. Now, I was actually a little unhappy because this is not my color palette, but it was definitely a trend. Of course there is more colors, but the colors of Fall have been noted!
Some of the pieces I loved in the Earthy Tones were this corduroy skirt, this blazer, and these boots!
Animal Prints
Another obvious trend when I walked up was all of the animal print! This was a big trend last year and has not let off the gas. There were great sweaters, jackets, camis, tops, shoes, literally so many options. There were a variety of animal prints too! While a larger cheetah print was prominent in clothing, over the smaller options, snakeskin seemed to take over the shoe department!
If you know anything about me, you know I don’t love cheetah in my clothing, (but I do like it in small doses) and to this day wear it only very minimally. HOWEVER, there were a few things in the mix that are making me reconsider! This leopard jacket was my absolute favorite piece out of everything I tried on, and the Something Navy collection absolutely killed it with the large cheetah print sweaters. Only a few minutes after the sale opened, the crew neck version sold out! If it came in another print or color I would buy it in a heartbeat. This sweater may actually end up in my closet if I can get my hands on it before it sells out. I can just tell it’s going to go so quickly! It was so soft and cozy I wouldn’t care if it came in rainbow cheetah on top of camo. I’d probably only wear it at home, but I’d wear it.
Snakeskin was a huge trend, especially in shoes! I don’t think I’ve seen quite that many snakeskin options in one place before. I even bought these booties!
Unstructured Jackets
Unstructured jackets were all over the place in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I was loving the unstructured blazers and moto styles! They are perfect for dressing down a work look or dressing up a casual style. I love this one and this one!
Jewel Tones
Is it possible that jewel tones are flattering on literally everyone? I think so! These are colors that are so great to wear and style, I loved the items I found. I noticed it most in sweaters and coats, but there were a few great jewelry pieces and accessories like these earrings, and this bag!
I don’t wear a ton of color, but I do love some jewel-tones. They’re great to brighten up the earth tones of fall, and add some fun to your wardrobe! This chunky sweater was a great option. They call it oversized, but in my normal size, XS, it was actually a little cropped (but not so much where you have to show tummy). The sleeves were also shorter, and I was surprised how much I liked it!
This skirt was really pretty, and I loved it on the hanger. The color was spot on, but unfortunately, the fit wasn’t. The waistband is actually not stretchy, and it was difficult to get on and off, plus it didn’t fit once it was at my waist.
This sweater comes in great jewel-tones!
Fall Florals
Fall florals are just like spring florals except a little less expected because they’re “out of season”. The florals in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are darker colors and a small print. In the catalog, they are shown with mixed prints and colorful layers, which I think is fantastic!
I’m not a huge print person, but I am actually very into the fall florals in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year. I like the darker colors and smaller floral prints. The styles were great as well! I loved some of the midi dresses like this one and this one.
*ooops! I didn’t try any of these on, but will add photos later, if I do!
honestly i love this sale because it gets me so excited for fall xD i love how you split it here!
