Admittedly, I don’t go out too often. However, somehow, I have more going-out clothes than I know what to do with! A lot of them now are a bit older now (don’t worry I linked up-to-date similar pieces). I guess because I couldn’t let go of my college days, I ended up buying some when I graduated and haven’t worn them too much. Now, I usually prefer grabbing happy hour drinks and being in bed before 11. Boring? Maybe. Hangover? None!
While I am clearly not an expert on the actual act, I have mastered (or so I like to think) the going-out look. While everyone has their own version of what is “right” or appropriate to wear to the bars, I prefer an understated sexy look. I’m sharing my formula below to help you perfect your going-out look for looking and feeling great without showing too much or feeling uncomfortable.
Perfect Your Going-Out Look
- The Clothes: Pick what you want to show off! Please, do not show it all. My rule is 1-2 features to extenuate. For this look I chose this romper from Tobi which is short and shows off my legs and has an open back, mostly covered by my hair anyways.
- Color: I don’t gravitate toward bright colors usually, but at night I especially go for darker colors, black, burgundy, navy, but mostly black.
- The Bag: I like to be hands free when I’m out to hold drinks or dance! I usually go with a shoulder bag or crossbody and I tend to carry as little as possible.
- The Shoes: My favorite part of any outfit! Frankly this one depends on the situation. Texas has a lot of outdoor patios with gravel, so I avoid any heels or wedges in those situations and stick with sandals or flats. If I plan on dancing, I’m fine with heels, but I make sure they aren’t my nice ones. Dance floors encourage moving and a lot of human contact which then usually means people spill things. It’s fine, it happens, just not on my Kate Spade’s. So, I leave them at home.
I love this look 🙂 x
