We talk a lot about being authentic, and the words you choose are very important. I’ve compiled 3 words to never use as a fashion blogger.
About the Words to Never Use
We want to be trustworthy sources for our audience. Being honest and authentic is a huge part of that. The second someone doesn’t believe what you’re saying you’ve lost their trust and lost a follower. They can’t trust you, so they won’t want to hear your opinion. They have to know that what you’re writing is actually what you think, not what some company paid you to write. (Side note: don’t bash a company if you don’t like what they sent you, there are other ways to handle that.)
This is true even more so with sponsored posts. A lot of the time we’ll work with newer companies or boutiques we haven’t heard of or shopped at before they reached out to us, so be honest and let your followers know about your first time experience. Aside from the honesty aspect, there are a few easy ways to not get caught sounding inauthentic (even accidentally) to your audience. Below I’ve compiled 3 words to never use as a fashion blogger: never, always, and favorite.
Never?! About this post title… Yes I did it on purpose! Of course you’ll use these words, they’re natural and in our vocabulary. However it’s important to avoid over use, and only say it when you mean it! Or, the other option, which is what happened here, to create a catchy title! I got your attention, didn’t I?
3 Words to Never use Use as a Fashion Blogger
- Never: Ha! Ok you caught me, I explain more below. It’s true, though! Saying you never do something or would wear something is not something you can guarantee. A year ago I would have told you that I’d never wear open toed booties, and here I am loving my new pair!
- Always: Another definite statement that you can’t guarantee. You always do your make up like this or use the same face wash, what happens when a new company sends you a different face wash? You can’t always use that too, so just be careful.
- Favorite: We all have a “favorite” sweater, pair of jeans, etc of the moment, but you can only have so many favorites until people stop believing you. Choose your favorites wisely, and keep them farther and fewer between!
Thank you for reading! I’d love your feedback below, do you like my Blogging Tips Series? Do you have any questions or topics you’d like me to cover? I would LOVE to hear from you!
Have a fabulous weekend, lovelies!
Great reminder! I am guilty of using favorite too much! LOL- I need to be better about that!
So true with these 3 words! I probably use favorite too much, but all my shoes are my favorite. 😉

Fab post. Great reminders of how much influence we have and how weighty our words are! Definitely will be intentional with my words when posting.
Haha, I love this!! Everything is ALWAYS my FAVE! 🙂
Hah I know It’s a hard habit to break!
Oh man my 3 favorite words EVER!!! My husband gets so mad at me for always using these 😜 Great advice though!! I really should watch the usage.
Right?? I obviously use them too, it’s good to be more cognizant of it, though!
SO MUCH YES. It also drives me crazy when bloggers say “I wear this shirt 2-3 times a week” about six different shirts, and you only see them once on Instagram. Haha. Excited to see what topic you tackle next in this series 🙂

Add ‘perfect’ to that list. We become so much more creative when we try not to use them all the time!
